Telpher Series
My Telpher series is set in the 24th century when humanity has penetrated a small portion of a very large galaxy. Humans have colonized planets in more than a hundred star systems and have organized themselves in pan-galactic governments and economies. Except for a few rogue planets who harbor pirates or who refuse to join multi-system leagues. There is unrealized promise in my imagined world that is challenged by wrong motives and flawed heroes. The outlook for humanity’s future is not always optimistic because humans being humans there is greed and corruption as well as love and fidelity.
Into this world I project a succession of courageous female protagonists who struggle with their own humanity while attempting to produce a promising future for their children and friends. These women are supported by resourceful male protagonists who learn to embrace a larger vision for their lives and for all people. This series is the flagship for my goal of producing uplifting science fiction that promises a meaningful destiny for humanity.

Telpher: A Time Travel Anomaly

Time heals. Can it heal them?
On the planet Verde two scientists develop the Telpher, a machine that will make possible instant communication across lightyears of space. Neither of them knows it has other uses. One of scientists uses the Telpher to get even with the other and learns an unfortunate truth with no apparent remedy. A hidden flaw in the Telpher’s human interface might be responsible for entangling the fates of two women who live in different times: an astrobiologist and a starship navigator.
21st century astrobiologist Sonja Bellesario uses telepathy and radio telescopes to listen for messages from outer space that might help her pursue her destiny in the stars. When a message comes she’s not prepared for its consequences. The two women have one thing in common. For one it’s a blessing in disguise; for the other a painful disaster. A hidden flaw in the Telpher’s human interface might be responsible for entangling these two women’s lives. Will the link be discovered in time? Time travel may have unexpected twists.

Jana Anders, a starship navigator, uses a risky move to return to the 24th century after a wormhole sends her ship centuries into the past, to a new planet. Her passengers stay on the planet which they name Mycenae.
Shawna Tang, a descendant of the original Mycenean colonists, alone among her people believes there are other inhabited worlds in the galaxy. A long-ago plague had wiped away the Myceneans’ memory of their past. Shawna yearns to go out to the stars to explore their secrets.
Jana’s employer, InterStellar, disbelieves her report of a new planet but covertly sends a team to explore it. They discover a new element that will confer almost unlimited political power to whoever controls its source.
InterStellar convinces the Galactic Federation to quarantine Mycenae in a plot to plunder its resources. InterStellar sends Ethan Styrnak, a geophysicist, to Mycenae. He meets Shawna and confirms her beliefs about other worlds. He also learns the truth behind his company’s actions.
Jana, Ethan, and Shawna are drawn together in a struggle to expose the InterStellar conspiracy. Shawna must choose between two paths to achieve freedom for her people but either path could mean abandoning her dream for the stars. Jana and Ethan will each face personal hurdles that challenge their hopes. Even having new technology and abilities unknown to their opponents, victory for them in the battle for Mycenae is far from certain.

It isn’t long before she finds that the two goals may be mutually exclusive. And there are powers beyond those even of the Archoi that wish to craft an altogether different future for humanity.
